What are symptoms of a potential yeast infection in the corner of the eye?

by Sylvia

My daughter has chronic yeast infections and I’m about to find out the levels in various parts of the body. Could I have picked up this yeast infection since it sounds like they might be airborne?

If you are referring to a vaginal yeast infection, the chances of you contracting it are very slim unless you are coming into direct contact with the yeast.

However, fungi that commonly occur in homes from water damage do release spores that become airborne. Typically these fungi will cause lung infections as they can enter the body through the process of breathing.

However, it is possible for them to cause eye infections but it is rare. I do have a picture of a yeast caused eye infection here if you care to take a look.

Bacteria cause eye infections much more frequently than fungi, and you will typically start to lose your eyesight in the affected eye within 24 hours or less. A bacterial infection in the eye, can cause a blister that looks very similar to the blistered eye in the above picture. These infections need immediate medical attention to avoid losing your eyesight. Even with immediate medical attention, the eye will likely end up damaged, leaving scar tissue in the eye that interferes with your night vision. It is also common to lose overall vision clarity; for instance, someone that had 20/20 vision prior to the infection could end up with 20/35 or worse. However, the overall vision in that eye will improve over the course of a year or so and scar damage will reduce as time goes on.
