What can I use to replace baking powder or yeast to bake breads on the Candida diet?

I would not eat bread on the Candida diet, especially those that contain wheat. In sensitive individuals, wheat can raise zonulin levels which can lead to leaky gut syndrome. This can trigger skin, allergies, digestive, and inflammatory problems.

Alternative flours such as rice, almond, coconut, tapioca, and others, generally contain to many carbs. Generally, there will be 14 grams of carbs in a single slice of bread and when you are limiting your carbs per meal to 20 grams or so one slice is not going to be very filling. You're better off consuming more fresh vegetables.

However, baking powder has only 1 gram of carbs per teaspoon which is very low so it would be fine.

The yeast used to make breads is supposed to be dead but it can still cause problems in yeast sensitive individuals.
