Biofase for Yeast & Candida

Updated 3/15/2024

Medically reviewed by Dr. Atmika Paudel, PhD Written by Dan Jackowiak Nc, HHP and Dr. Vibhuti Rana, PhD

Dr. Atmika Paudel says... The facts presented below about the active ingredients that Biofase contains and their effects on biofilms, its effects on the yeast cell wall, and possible side effects are medically correct.

Biofase is a proprietary enzyme formula developed to eat Candida yeast and remove biofilms. Once these enzymes eat their way through the biofilm they will attack the cell wall of the yeast effectively killing it. Most of the time there aren't any die-off reactions but there can be in highly toxic individuals. This enzyme formula will also gently cleanse the intestines of waste and can improve overall digestion.

After 10 years of research, I developed this formula because almost every yeast eating enzyme formula I have seen does not include all the enzymes needed to eat the biofilm and all the components of the cell wall. These biofilms are a protective shield that the yeast or bacteria build over themselves as a means of protection. Upon initial colonization yeast and bad planktonic bacteria will begin building these biofilms within the first 24 hours, which greatly improves their ability to resist prescription drugs and natural remedies.

Candida glabrata and Candida krusei are two such species of yeast that are highly resistant to Fluconazole because of this biofilm. Fluconazole(Diflucan) does not dissolve the biofilm, instead you have to use one of the Echinocandins. Once the Echinocandin gets through the biofilm it then disrupts the cell wall killing the yeast. Biofase for yeast does the same exact thing as the Echinocandins but it is an all natural remedy that is taken by mouth and not by injection. Once you get through the biofilm, prescription drugs and natural remedies are much more effective.

biofase enzymes

Candida yeast biofilms are composed of cellulosic plant matter, polynucleotide DNA and RNA material, polypeptide proteins, and polysaccharide carbohydrates. Fibrinogen and fibronectin are used by the organism as an attachment mechanism.

Fibrinogen and fibronectin are the same materials that the body uses to clot the blood at wound sites. These materials are bound together by ligands with stickiness properties much like lectins in wheat. There's a picture and explanation of the biofilm on this webpage if you care to take a look.

Once the Biofase for yeast gets through the biofilm they begin to digest the cell wall that is composed of polysaccharide carbohydrates, proteins, chitin, and lipids or fats.

In August of 2010, Megan D Lenardon, Carol A Munro, and Neil AR Gow of the Aberdeen Fungal Group, School of Medical Sciences in the UK, published this study that explains that when these chitinase enzymes start breaking apart the cell wall, the immune system now sees it, and mounts an immune response. The presence of these large chitin fragments results in the accumulation of IL-4 expressing basophils, eosinophils and neutrophils in tissues and induces alternative macrophage activity against the candida yeast. Neutrophils can kill a yeast cell in 1/600th of a second.

Dr. Vibhuti Rana says...

The above section very aptly describes how Biofase is helpful to eradicate yeast pathogenic species from the host system. Microbes exert their resistant phenotypic properties by secreting biofilm-forming substances. This shields them from any treatments that are administered, so the drugs are of no use. The fungal biofilms are formed by various species including Candida, Aspergillus, Cryptococcus, Trichosporon, pneumocystis, etc (1). In particular, patients with compromised immunity, or those who undergo regular catheterization are at a greater risk of severe infections since these pathogens colonize on medical devices and implants (2,3). Once the biofilms are sturdy enough, the entire host immune system is modulated and infection propagates at an alarming rate, which can be observed with varied cytokine and macrophagic profile. Therefore, for any treatment to work effectively, this biofilm issue needs to be taken care of. This is where Biofase will come into play by eliciting an immune response.

Biofase Helps With Bacterial Biofilms

Staphylococcus-Biofilm

Bacterial biofilms are mostly composed of polypeptide proteins and polysaccharide carbohydrates. The biofilm helps the bacteria become resistant to antibiotics, and because the bacteria enveloped by the biofilm are protected by it, the host immune system is less likely to mount a response to their presence resulting in repeated infections as these bacteria are periodically released from the biofilms.

Each time single bacterial form enters the tissues, the immune system suddenly becomes aware of their presence and may proceed to launch an inflammatory response that leads to heightened disease symptoms.

Thus, the periodic release of planktonic bacteria from some biofilms may be what causes many chronic relapsing infections... ultimately this moderation of virulence may serve the bacteria’s interest by increasing the longevity of the host.

The Autoimmunity Research Foundation has a very good explanation of bacterial biofilms with pictures on this webpage.

Dr. Vibhuti Rana says...

Bacterial biofilms comprise of polysaccharides, extracellular secretory proteins, and DNA. All these substances get glued together to impart endurance and resistance to the bacterial species in a cocooned manner; in a complex and dynamic fashion (1). In all the cases, the attachment of bacteria to the surfaces may be reversible (non-specific) or irreversible (mediated by bacterial adhesins or lipopolysaccharide), followed by exopolysaccharide secretion and biofilm maturation by colonization and signaling molecules (2). While some bacterial biofilms in plant microbiome are beneficial in agricultural sector for protection against phytopathogens and increasing crop yield (3), these protective sticky layers pose serious threat to medical care, and food industries, and pharmaceutical therapeutics. In order to cater to the infections caused by bacterial microbes in the host, biofilms need to be broken down. Biofase uses its unique formula of hydrolytic enzymes such as cellulases, hemicellulases, invertase, amylases, serratiopeptidases, and proteases for chewing down the biofilms and facilitating the effective therapeutic response.

Biofase Helps With Viral Biofilms

Viruses also build biofilms that are similar to bacterial biofilms in that the biofilm is a carbohydrate rich structure. The virus is protected by the biofilm and will release viral spores randomly infecting its host. Science Daily has a pretty good explanation of viral biofilms concerning HTLV-1, a sexually transmitted virus that can cause T-cell leukemia, lymphoma, infectious dermatitis, uveitis, myositis, and other inflammatory syndromes.

The research concerning viral biofilms is fairly new but I suspect that many incurable viral infections, herpes for instance, are because of these biofilms. Because these biofilms are basically built from carbohydrates, these enzymes should be able to dissolve them. The viral cell wall itself is composed of protein and fats so it should be able to kill those too.

However, once the Biofase for yeast enzymes get though the bacterial or viral biofilm, the immune system is going to see the infection and mount a response. Just like it does when it gets through yeast biofilms and starts breaking up the cell wall as explained above.

Dr. Vibhuti Rana says...

Basically, any biofilm contains the colonized forms of microbes, as opposed to the freely floating planktonic form. Viral biofilms, though not very common, have proved to be an emerging mechanism by which viruses shield themselves and transmit with a greater force and frequency. Earlier, this resistance mechanism was observed only in human T-cell leukemia type virus-1 (HTLV-1) and published in the Cell in 2011, where this virus formed biofilm structures on the surface of T-cells (1). The constituents include ECM (collagen, sulfates, heparin) and bridging proteins. Once the virus producing cell and target T cell come in contact, the virus is transmitted to the latter, causing infection (2). It has been shown in this study that elimination of the viral biofilm structures from the target T lymphocytes reduces their virulence by more than 80%. In aquatic environments, viruses have also been seen to be consistent in lotic (freshwater ecosystems) biofilm communities as viruses are more abundant than bacteria in these settings (3).

Biofase Ingredients

Most of the yeast eating enzymes that I have seen contain protein and cellulase eating enzymes to eat the cell wall. The more complete formulas contain added enzymes to eat the polysaccharide carbohydrates. None of them contain the enzymes needed to eat the fibrinogen and fibronectin attachment component and I haven't seen any that have an enzyme for the fatty lipids. This is why I developed Biofase for yeast. I wanted an enzyme formula that ate all of the components of the biofilms and the cell wall of all species of yeast.

One capsule of Biofase for yeast enzymes contains 525mgs of cellulase(with beta-glucanase and chitosanase side activity) and hemicellulase to eat the cellulistic chitinase components of the biofilm and cell wall; beta-glucanase to eat the glucans in the biofilm and cell wall; invertase, glucoamylase, and amylase to eat the polysaccharide carbohydrates; protease to eat the polypeptide and mannoprotein components in the biofilm, cell wall, and nucleus; and lipase to eat the fatty lipids in the cell wall structure. I could have stopped right there and had a yeast eating enzyme that was just like everyone else. Instead I added serratiopeptidase(serrapeptase) in ample amounts to break loose the fibrinogen and fibronectin attachment mechanism. Because of this, in my opinion, Biofase enzymes are the best yeast and bacterial biofilm eating enzyme product on the market.

Biofase for yeast enzymes do not contain egg, dairy, preservatives, salt, sucrose, soy, wheat, yeast, nuts, corn, gluten, potato, rice, artificial colors or flavors. Capsules are 100% Vegetarian composed of water and cellulose.

How to Take Biofase for Yeast

Check-Mark

What's the Best way to take Biofase? See our 3-Step Treatment Plan here.

Otherwise...

Biofase for yeast enzymes should be taken at a dose of one capsule per day away from meals, an hour before breakfast and at bedtime is best, for a few days. If all goes well after a few days, raise the dose to two in the morning and two at night. After a few more days I would go to 3 capsules twice a day. You can always take more if you choose to; these enzymes have a long history of safety and are not toxic in any way.

A good plan of attack would be to take two or three Biofase for yeast enzymes with one or two Profase one hour or more before breakfast and 30 minutes before bedtime. Or follow the 3-Step Plan or Systemic cleanse.

Biofase enzymes eat through the biofilm and eats the cell wall, membrane, of candida yeast. Once the biofilm is removed, the suggested herbs in either cleanse provides additional yeast cleansing. Profase also provides additional yeast cleansing while boosting immune function and improving the intestinal environment for long term health.

CP-1 or the 11-Strain formula also work pretty good as a second choice. Cp-1 and the 11-Strain help clean up the waste, while crowding out and preventing yeast reattachment to the intestinal wall in the process.

Possible Biofase Side Effects

Some people may have the occasional intestinal distress or a cleansing reaction from these enzymes, which generally means...it's working! However, if that happens to you and you feel it is too much to handle, back off the dose or stop taking them for a few days. Usually after a few days, you can start back up and not have anymore problems. I have also had people take one of the lesser enzyme formulas such as Candex for a few weeks, then go back to Biofase and not have anymore problems.

Many times your yeast infection will get worse before it gets better. This is caused by the enzymes actually getting through the biofilm and attacking the yeast cell wall. The yeast in its defense will begin to scramble and beef up its cell wall structure in an attempt to survive. But because Biofase is a complete enzyme formula that attacks all parts of the yeast cell wall, the colony in a further attempt to survive, will ramp up spore production and release them into your body. These additional spores cause the flare up in symptoms. If you raise the dose to a minimum 3 capsules twice a day the flare-up usually calms down in a week or so as the entire colony is reduced.

Typically, you can avoid these flare-ups if you are following the 3-Step Plan to start with. However, I have also had people tell me they took 6 capsules twice a day with excellent results.

Medical Review by Dr. Atmika Paudel, PhD

Getting rid of biofilm and recurrent infections is in fact, a challenge. Pathogenic microorganisms form biofilms in living tissues including gut [1] as well as indwelling medical devices including but not limited to urinary catheter, prosthetic heart valve, intrauterine device. Biofilms are intrinsically tolerant to antimicrobial agents [2], thus posing a threat to human health and challenge to clinicians.

The facts about the active ingredients that the product claims to contain are correct in general, when they are consumed at appropriate doses. For instance, cellulase enzyme, which human cannot synthesize and get from diet, degrades cellulose found in fibers from vegetables, fruits, and cereals in addition to biofilms of some microorganisms [3]. Therefore, cellulase is required not only for the digestion of cellulose from diet, which is beneficial for people with bezoar [4], metabolic disorders and cannot digest cellulose, but also important for disrupting the biofilms formed by microorganisms.

This is not an endorsement of the product, but cellulase, hemi-cellulase, invertase, protease, lipase, and amylase have been categorized under the Generally Recognized As Safe (GRAS) by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, when they are derived from the source mentioned by FDA. Appropriate care should be taken for other enzymes whose efficacy and long-term safety are not known and when taking with other medications, for instance, serratiopeptidase and blood thinning medications do not go together. However, Health Canada recognizes serratiopeptidase as safe and has suggested dosing directions.

Biofase for Yeast User Reviews

The Biofase/Profase combination is the best, most effective remedy for Candida I have yet discovered.

Great work, Dan.

Dr. Dean W. Manders

Hello Dan

Just wanted to let you know how well your products are working on this old body. I have been fighting candida for the past six years, I have tried many products over the years many of them you have listed on your web site with varying degrees of success. I just finish up an order from another Candida site. This has been a very long and difficult fight with few good results. I decided to take another look on the web to see if I could find any new information on fighting candida when I came upon your site and started to read. I found the information very thorough and it all made sense to me considering my past experiences. That is when I decided to order your products and give them a try. I had been taking Nystatin for the past month, it seemed to be keeping the thrush (one of my symptoms) at bay but that was all. Well within two days of taking Biofase for yeast enzymes and CP-1, I noticed a change in my mouth, the taste was different. Its now been a week and the lesions on my tongue are healing and the yellow sulfur is starting to recede to the back of the tongue.

So I would like to thank you for your help and knowing how difficult candida is to get rid of, I would recommend others who may read this to try your products.

Yours, a Long Time Candida Fighter

Robert

Hi Dan,

I have suffered with brain fog since I was young. When your Biofase for yeast enzyme product came out I figured it was worth a try so I ordered some. Within a few days I had a marked improvement and when I added the 11-strain probiotic like you suggest, the brain fog completely cleared up. The entire process took about a week.

Thanks Dan!

Earl

Dan,

I just reordered your new product "Biofase". I got great results. I started taking 2 pills before each meal and again at bedtime on Friday.  My problem is that I have been constipated my whole life. By Monday I was starting to go. And every morning since, right after breakfast, I have a movement. So this time I am ordering the big bottle. I will continue to take "BioFase" for a while, as I am convinced the yeast had completely taken over my upper digestive tract.

I am going to recommend "Biofase" and "11 Strain" as well as your web-page to my family doctor, a PA. Dr Tammara Beeghly is very good and has been working with me for some time.

Thank You for the good product and excellent information on your web-page.

Dale

Update from Dale 2 weeks later.

The constipation appears to be gone.
RLS is almost gone.
Leg cramps almost gone.
Acid Reflux almost gone.
Headaches much better.
All after about 3 weeks of 12 Biofase / day.

Thank You!!

Dan,

I wanted to let you know that I am half through the bottle of Biofase for yeast enzymes.  I'm already pleased with it!  I'm finding very good results with it.  I'm having at least two very productive  BM's a day.  My stomach feels better, and if I feel I need to back off, I notice a smaller and softer stomach, and I'm only half through the bottle. I'm very excited about your product!  Thank you for all the long hours, and hard work that you put into this product!!! I will be promoting this to my friends!

Thank you again!

Jeanne M

Hi Dan,

I just wanted to say how much Biofase enzymes has helped me. I've been taking it for 2 weeks along with cp-1 and I have been seeing big improvements on my concentration in class, also my tinea is disappearing plus I'm not feeling as sluggish throughout the day.

So thanks for making this wonderful product. I will continue taking Biofase until my candida is under control.

Tatianna

Hi Dan,

"I have had systemic candidiasis for about nine years.  For years I have taken a systemic enzyme that had high amounts of protease, but no cellulase. Since it lacked the cellulase enzyme, the candida would not break down completely to get cleared out of my body.  I would have trouble eating and digesting fibrous foods.  I would rely on Oxy-Powder to push out the residual candida die off and thus prevent constipation.  However, Oxy-Powder also had a tendency to strip away beneficial bacteria so long term use of it can cause another set of problems.  But if I didn't take it on a daily basis at that time, my digestive system would get backed up and I would develop gall stones.

At one point there was such a large mass of undigested cellulose in my gut that it was almost unbearable.  When I realized what the problem was, I started taking Candex because I saw that it had high amounts of cellulase.  This gave me some relief.

But then I read about Biofase for yeast enzymes. Biofase seemed like a much more complete set of enzymes for breaking down the candida so I ordered a bottle.  BioFase has been a God send for me.  Since I have been taking it, it has been easier for me to eat and digest fibrous foods.  I don't have to take Oxy-Powder anymore.  And it feels like my liver is getting stronger.

Thank you for creating and providing such a wonderful product.  I highly recommend it to anyone that has systemic candidiasis."

Amanda

Thank you Dan,

for making a miracle happen for my son. Ever since we started giving  him Biofase for yeast enzymes with the 11-strain probiotic a few weeks ago, we have and are very happy to say, that his condition has reversed itself and we both notice a great improvement over all. He is more active and playful now, its like watching a movie running backward. This brings us all a lot of joy because of your products. BioFase is a wonderful product and I believe more people should know about it. I am amazed that you don't have this product on the shelves at walmart or other stores for people to use.

We couldn't thank you enough for your wonderful gift that brought back our son. I would recommend BioFase in a heart beat to anyone out there who is in need of it. God bless you and your family.

Thank you,

John

FINALLY a natural product that works! I have had yeast infections for 30 years.  It was only after I visited with an OMD, LAc, 20 years ago that I found relief with maintenance herbs but not a cure for the chitin protected yeast. I still had yeast overgrowth issues which caused a uric acid problem and needed to take several different herbal products just to keep the yeast and uric acid under control.  Both the yeast and uric acid created several health issues such as weight gain, yeast infections, horrible migraines, muscle tightness especially around my neck and shoulders among others.

When I ate any diary or fermented foods such as milk, cheese, wine, etc, it guaranteed a yeast flare-up and I could feel it immediately.  I learned to stay away from many foods.

Yeast overgrowth caused the need to clear my throat due to phlegm and what felt like a nagging cough after I ate many foods, not limited to just dairy or fermented foods.  Many mornings I wake up with the need to clear my throat having eaten or drank nothing.

After taking Biofase for yeast enzymes for about five days I noticed the coughing and need to clear my throat was gone.  To put Biofase to the test, I ate some yeast triggering foods to see if Biofase truly worked and it did!  I wasn't even 1/2 done with the bottle.

I have tried other comparable products that break down the chitin to compare with Biofase and Biofase worked significantly better.  With the other products I took, I either got absolutely no relief or little relief but not enough that for me it is worth taking.  Though I was taking a named product, the throat phlegm returned even after finishing this other product.

I am returning to Biofase enzymes and will continue to take this product at least until all the yeast causing health issues disappear.  I realize it won't be overnight.  After all, it did take me 30 years to get to this point but I now know that by taking Biofase I am not just keeping the yeast at bay with maintenance herbs but actually ridding it from my body.  This one amazing product is literally changing my health and life for the better.  I didn't think this could ever be possible.  It's not just hope that I have gained but a fact that Biofase does indeed work.

Thanks Dan!

Jalena,
